We only stayed in Picton one night as it’s where travelers catch the ferry to Wellington, which is NZ capital city. Walking along the water to and from our holiday park, we saw a couple of stingrays. We had the opportunity to visit the downtown and check out the shops, and we enjoyed the pool at the holiday park. There was a park near the ferry station that we checked out as we waited for the ferry.
We loved Wellington. We spent a couple of days visiting the Te Papa Museum and its wonderful exhibits. There was an outdoor pedestrian mall, which is always fun, and we hit the beach just in time to join the local kids on their first day of summer break. Mia also had an opportunity to get some bouldering in. There’s a vibe to Wellington that reminded us of SF, and there was smattering of cool art exhibits.
