Lovely Nelson and Gorgeous Abel Tasman, NZ.

We had a lovely time in Nelson, with easy and reliable transportation, a cute downtown, a BMX track, and (complicated) access to Abel Tasman.

In Nelson, we perused the Farmer’s Market, visited Pic’s Peanut Butter Factory, hung out and shopped downtown, saw the Christ Church Cathedral, walked along the beach, checked out the park, cheered during a BMX race, ate delicious ice cream, and relaxed at a bookstore.

To visit Abel Tasman, we had to rent a car and take a water taxi to reach Anchorage and start our 4 hour hike back, which was well worth it. After driving around the South Island, I feel quite proficient at driving, so renting a car, automatic this time, was easy. The drive was pleasant and with only one wrong turn, we arrived in the town of Marahu in Abel Tasman with plenty of time. The tide was out, so our boat was pulled by a tractor into the water. Exciting! It was Mia’s first time on a power boat, and of course she loved it.
