We’re trying to find the Japan mountain town with cooler weather, slower pace, and lots of trees. We found it! We stayed at the Kizuna Lodge, which felt more like a hostel and was nestled in the trees. While there, we took a gondola and two chairlifts to 1,680m where, along with everyone else, we started our hike to Happo Pond. Paragliders were launching off for their flights at Hakuba Happo One Ski Area, next to where we were enjoying matcha ice cream. We all agreed to eventually return during the winter.
