Traveling & Skiing in Innsbruck, Austria 🇦🇹

We traveled from Munich to Innsbruck, and we finally had the opportunity to ski. We woke early to fetch the bus to the Patscherkofel, and saw a guy in a bright orange ski jacket, ski boots, holding skis, and had helmet hooked to his belt. On Google Maps, it appeared he was going to the same place we were, so we walked quickly, jogging sometimes, to keep up with him and hopped on the J line with him. After 15 minutes, Patch and I realized we were going the opposite direction of Patscherkofel and heading to Nordkette ski area. After a 45 minute delay we finally made it to Patscherkofel. Oops! We were fortunate enough to have Kieran from Australia set us up with the perfect gear for the day, and we had a wonderful day skiing.

Unfortunately, that night Mia threw up and got a fever that broke by morning, so Patchen and I explored the city without her. We admired the square and buildings, and we went into an outdoor gear store where we had a wonderful conversation with an Argentinian named Mariano.

We had a fabulous apartment close to a SPAR grocery store and connected with one of the checkers there. She let us know that she doesn’t like living in the mountains and would rather live by the ocean, which reminded me that humans often want what they don’t have.

In hindsight with the mountains, skiing, bike paths, river running through town, and laidback feeling, we would have stayed longer.
