We stayed at the Knot hotel in downtown Sapporo, mostly because the trains were booked for the Japanese holiday Obon. While there, we perused the 7 block Tanukikoji Shopping Street and the underground Pole Town Shopping Complex, hiked Mount Moiwa, rode a SF style street car, walked along the Odori Park where we saw a drumming performance, walked the Sōseigawa Park, which is a promenade with river plants and sculptures, along the Sōse River, went to the 38th floor of the Japan Rail Building, toured the Sapporo beer museum (of course), visited the aquarium, and rode the Ferris wheel. Phew.
