The Nepali folks as a whole are some of the nicest I’ve ever met, but their traffic system as a tourist is insane. Navigating the narrow and windy streets of Kathmandu isn’t for the faint of heart. While in Kathmandu, we booked trips to Chitwan National Park, Pokhara, and the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek; took a cooking class; and hiked up to the Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple). From ntb.gov.np Swayambhu is one of the holiest Buddhist stupas in Nepal. It is said to have evolved spontaneously when the valley was created out of a primordial lake more than 2,000 years ago. This stupa is the oldest of its kind in Nepal. After we visit Chitwan NP and Pokhara, we’ll be back in Kathmandu for 4 days before taking off for our EBC trek.
