After getting our JR passes in Tokyo, we hopped on five different trains and headed north to Hakodate. We spent the night in Hakodate and took our 6th and last train to Niseko the following morning. The camping was good and it was fun to finally use our camping gear we’d been carrying for a month, but sadly, it was too hot. The heat has kept us from camping more so far on the trip. We noticed that most Japanese only camp for one night and head out the following morning, and they also rent their gear for the night. It was fun to camp because we had more opportunity to connect with locals.
While in Niseko we hiked to the peak of Mount Niseko-Annupuri and visited a shrine.
