We wrapped up our NZ visit by staying for a week in Auckland and spending Christmas there. While there, we visited the mall to resupply undergarments, pick up a few little xmas gifts for Mia, and Patch got a haircut. We also visited Auckland Domain, which is a huge park housing the Winter Gardens and War Memorial Museum.
We spent Christmas Day at Mission Bay Beach along with many other folks. The park was packed with families and many opened their gifts there while playing music and dancing. We took the ferry to Devonport and spent that day there at the park, watching Sonic 3, and wandering the town.
The last two and most exciting days were spent with Darla and Jean Deal, who traveled from the United States to visit NZ, where Shane, Darla's dad and Jean's husband was born. Sadly, he couldn't make this trip, so we didn't get to see him. We saw the pre-teen personalities of Mia and Darla, with shopping, sleeping, sprinting up the stairs at Albert Park, and snarky, clever comments.
