Nikole was born and raised in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. After graduating from the University of North Texas with an English Literature degree in 1999, she moved to San Francisco, CA. Knowing only one person, this was a huge leap for her.

While in SF, she was an office manager, massage therapist, and eventually started working at McKesson with a computer software called SAP. This led her to becoming a consultant with Deloitte traveling weekly to Milwaukee and then Los Angeles.

In her spare time, she raced road bikes and enjoyed trail-running. Wanting to give back to her community, she picked up mountain biking to become a NorCal mountain bike coach. Through this experience, she met Patchen and they eventually coached the (formerly Drake) Archie Williams Mountain Bike team in San Anselmo.

In 2008 Patchen and Nikole bought a house, Nikole went back to school for her dual credential in English and special education, and in 2011 Nikole was hired in the TUHSD to teach English in the Team Program at Tamiscal High School.
May 2013, they had their beautiful daughter Amelia Denton Homitz, a whopping 9lbs 12oz, and in 2015 Nikole put her special education credential to use teaching resource at Redwood High School.

After a few years in 2019, the TUHSD opened a Counseling Enriched Classroom at Archie Williams High School. Nikole went back to school and obtained her Masters of Education in 2022. She continued to support students in the CEC until the family's Great Adventure in 2024.
